The Making of Body Bazaar

“Growing up in Moldova, a former Soviet Union Republic, I never had access to western beauty potions. To make up for this, I took it upon myself to search for native Slavic beauty recipes and learn what natural materials available to me at the time could be used for beautifying myself and my loved ones. From this seed of passion: Body Bazaar bloomed. Starting with what was close at hand, I used my mother's garden to grow and collect all the medicinal herbs needed to make my own preparations. As I grew older, my passion and knowledge base grew along with me. I expanded my studies to incorporate cosmetic traditions beyond my little home country, drawing from a wide pool of wisdom spanning the globe. The medicinal herbs of Australian Aboriginals, the beauty rituals of Native African Tribes, the miraculous botanicals of the Amazon, along with the cosmetic secrets of the Indian, Chinese and Japanese indigenous beauty traditions—all this and more boosted and informed my practice.

Not Everything that Glitters is Gold

As time went by and life eventually brought me to United States, I was thrilled to finally have access to the enthusiastically hyped Western beauty products I'd dreamed of as a girl. Little did I know that they were loaded with toxic chemicals, some of them even known to cause cancer. They did nothing for my skin and actually made it worse. Needless to say, I was shocked.

Pursuing Passion for Nature Friendly Cosmetics

After discovering the true face of conventional beauty products, I immediately went back to the homemade beauty potions which had worked so well in the past. My skin regained its former state of health not long after and I never looked back. Determined not to let others endure what I had, the inspiration to start a beauty company germinated within my soul not long after. From skin chemistry and human biology to sustainable farming, wild crafting and biodegradability: I studied all that would help me achieve my goal of providing effective, nature-friendly cosmetics.

We are Environmentally Friendly

Maintaining environmentally friendly business practices is a critical part of our operations as the importance of keeping the environment in a good condition can never be underestimated. As one of the many inhabitants of this planet, I find that balance with nature is non-negotiable and so I run Body Bazaar with that firmly in mind.

Our Cause and Purpose

There is an old Native American saying: “We are not given the Earth by our ancestors, we borrow it from our descendants.” If there is one sentence that encapsulates Body Bazaar's ethos: it is that. It took much passion, dedication and knowledge (and no small bit of perfectionism) to develop our 100% responsible beauty line. It is my profound belief that our civilization’s current disregard for Nature and its gifts are proof of its infancy. I'm confident that one day humanity will scoff at and ridicule its former use of petroleum powered cars, coal-based energy, genetically modified foods, pesticide grown vegetables and antibiotic treated and inhumanly raised animals. Though Body Bazaar wants to do its part in helping you achieve beauty, it is our collective responsibility to ensure the Natures maintains hers. This is a step we, as a race, can only take together if we want our progeny to flourish as we and our ancestors dreamed. It is not a question of if, but when. Body Bazaar is our step and I hope you take it along with us!”
